Pay per click.

The first thing I need to do to begin to make money is monetise my pages. I'm trying to be realistic so I'm not looking at making huge amounts of money at the moment. I just want to see if I can alleviate my sites running costs by monetising my pages for free. The less money coming out of my account on running costs the better, and once I have covered this expense I can begin to think about making a profit. I'm not going to give up on my site, like I said in the introduction, failure is not an option, so it has to be self supporting which means that monetising it is essential. I continually add content and am constantly looking for suitable link  partners to exchange links with and other free ways to get noticed online to keep my site visible. After all, to make money you need visitors.

I already have a reasonable flow of steady traffic to my site and over the last 3 years that I have been online I have managed to build up a reasonable amount of link partners and back links. I am not a high PR site, I am just an average web owner like most of you trying to earn money online to make ends meet.

Running your website for free using Pay per click.

The first thing I'm going to do to monetise my site is look for a site that offers Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising. This is where I place targeted adverts on my sites pages like the ones you see to the left and right. Every time they receive a click through I get paid. I cannot think of a better way to start making money than Pay per click, as once I have placed the relevant adverts on my site all I need to do is wait for visitors to click them.

My first port of call will be Google. Google are probably the most well known (PPC) site on the web. We have all heard of adsense. There's hardly a site on the web that hasn't got Google adsense somewhere within its content.

I will need to create an adsense account. To do this I will need to visit Googles web site and follow the links to adsense. Adsense is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant Google ads on their website's content pages and earn money. Because the ads are related to what your visitors are looking for on your site — or matched to the characteristics and interests of the visitors your content attracts — you'll finally have a way to both monetise and enhance your content pages. It's also a way for website publishers to provide Google web and site search to their visitors, and to earn money by displaying relevant Google ads on the search results pages.

Once I have set up my adsense account I will place some adverts on my pages to see if they will start to generate any kind of income to help toward the cost of running my site. There are other options out there such as Yahoo, Speedyads, or any of the numerous other sites that offer similar pay per Click (PPC) programs but I have chosen Google adsense mainly for the reason that Google are a well known company with a proven track record so I am confident that I will get paid.

I believe Google do have certain policies and criterias to meet before they will accept you as a member but if you don't apply for an account you will never know and you may be missing out on an opportunity to make money online, however small the amount.
